Wild Earth Riesling 2019
$28.00
This elegant Riesling has a nose that is initially shy but soon opens up in the glass with aromas of melon, lime zest and elderflower. The flavour spectrum is largely citrus with a hint of Granny Smith apple and great salinity. The palate is mouth filling, yet fresh, with medium body and length. Enjoyable at release, this wine will continue to evolve for 8+ years.

Vintage Notes
The 2018 – 2019 growing season returned to more classic conditions with warm (but not hot) days and cool nights. Yields were normal with minimal disease pressure and we had the benefit of the classic long hang time. The cool nights helped retain the perfect level of acidity for Riesling.
Winemaking Notes
These Riesling grapes come from a single vineyard located on a prestigious terrace in Bendigo. The 2019 Wild Earth Riesling is the second single vineyard Riesling produced from this site. The Riesling grapes were hand harvested on the 14th April 2019. The fruit was whole bunch pressed and cool fermented in order to retain aromatic freshness. Fermentation was stopped at optimal balance which in this vintage was just slightly off-dry.
No fining products are used to make this wine. Therefore this wine is vegan.

“Offering brilliant fruit purity and poise, the wine shows white flesh nectarine, lemon sorbet and white floral aromas on the nose. The palate delivers excellent focus and drive, combined with fine texture and whispering sweetness, finishing superbly long and engaging. Style: Off-dry. At its best: now to 2029”

“Finely poised, this youthful, single-vineyard wine was grown at Bendigo. Light lemon/green, it is invitingly scented and medium-bodied, with strong, vigorous, lemony, peachy flavours, a gentle splash of sweetness, and fresh, tangy acidity. Well worth cellaring”.
18.5/20 pts, 5 stars – Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Wine Reviews (June 2021)
“Bright, even pale yellow colour. The nose is captivating with concentrated nuances of limes, mandarin peels, apple, honey interweave lime flowers. Medium-bodied, off-dry to taste, vibrant flavours of lime, apple melded with elderflower and honey. The palate has a smooth line with soft yet vibrant acidity, along with the texture of apple skins flow to a long, lingering finish. The wine has a good concentration of flavours, subtle spices unveiling on the finish. A classic Central Otago Riesling with concentration and length. Match with seafood with creamy sauce and spiced pork chops over the next 6+ years. The fruit was sourced from Bendigo terrace, whole bunch pressed, cool-fermented in stainless steel to 12% alc, 10.6 g/l RS. Unfined, vegan friendly”.
94 pts, excellent – Cameron Douglas MS (July 2021)
“Precise, pure, fresh, fruity and varietal with aromas of fresh green apple and citrus, wet schist and chalk-like minerality, white peach tea and a touch of lime-flower. Dry on the palate with a whisper of sweet on the front palate, flavours of lime and lime-flower, apple and citrus, fresh white flowers and mineral. Lovely long finish and ready as an aperitif or with fresh seafood and crisp appetiser dishes. Best drinking from purchase and through 2029”.

“Dry, tangy Riesling with concentrated lime juice, saline, oyster-shell and white flower flavours. A punchy, high-energy wine with strong sweet-and-sour tension. Great with seafood garnished with lemon or lime”.
