The fruit (Pinot Noir clones 777, 10/5, 115, 667 & 114) was hand harvested on 25 March 2014 until 11 April 2014. The fruit was destemmed into five stainless steel tanks, before being inoculated with selected wine yeasts to carry out the fermentation. The wine was aged in French oak barriques for approximately 12 months of which 29% is new oak. This wine is a blend of 5 lots out of a total of 10 lots, with 100% of the fruit coming from Bannockburn vineyards.
International Wine Challenge 2017, London:
"Smokey, complex nose, deep and fruitful, high-toned palate, offering black fruits. Structure palate gives texture of fine tannins".
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit:
"This is a gorgeous pinot. The inviting bouquet shows dark cherry, plum, smoked game, vanilla and cedar characters, leading to a concentrated palate that is full flavoured and richly textured with smooth mouthfeel and polished tannins. Wonderfully expressive and delicious".
Raymond Chan Wine Reviews:
"Dark, deep ruby-red colour with purple hues, a little lighter on the rim, very youthful in appearance. This has a bold and up-front nose with bright and vibrant aromas of ripe, dark raspberries along with red plums, red and black liquorice, spice elements and a fine, underlying line of thyme herbs. The aromatics are concentrated and build in volume and depth with aeration. Full-bodied, the palate is rounded with stylishly rich and luscious fruit flavours of dark raspberries and dark plums, with soft liquorice and spice notes and nuances of thyme herb. The flavours are harmonious in expression and supported by fine-grained, supple tannin extraction, and the fruit sweetness enhanced by integrated acidity. The wine carries to a sustained finish of raspberries, plums and liquorice. This is a full, up-front, harmonious and rich Pinot Noir with flavours of dark raspberries, plums and liquorice on a supple, rounded palate".
