Wild Earth Pinot Noir Reserve "Earth & Sky" 2010

Deep purple with purple hues.  Ripe cherry and dark fruit on the nose, with complex savoury aromas of leather and mushroom, together with a hint of dried herbs. Concentrated, rich, ripe plum and cherry on the palate with mouth caressing, velvety tannins. This wine has a lovely minerality and an extremely long finish.

Details

From the superb 2010 vintage, Wild Earth presents "Earth & Sky", our premier pinot noir. The finest pinot noir fruit on our Bannockburn Vineyard was carefully selected, then picked by hand to craft only Twelve Barrels of this impressive wine.

The Pinot Noir juice was received in February, 2011 and the wine was made in oak barrels. After spending 12 months in-barrel, 4 of its best lots were blended together (a total of 46 barrels) and returned to one-year-old oak barrels for a further 4 month oak maturation. The blend ended up containing around 35% new oak.

Raymond Chan Wine Reviews – June 2016
“This is a fulsome, concentrated Pinot Noir with sweet and savoury layers of flavour with plenty of structure, and a vigorous mouthfeel”

Bob Campbell MW - Oct 2016
"Robust and intense pinot noir, with concentrated plum and dark cherry flavours together with an earthy savoury character, the beginning of toasty bottle development and a generous influence of spicy oak. Sweet fruit helps to make this bold red more accessible, although it will obviously benefit from more bottle age. Drink 2016 to 2022".

"Sensual, seductive and delicious, this gorgeous pinot is filled with mixed berry compote, spice, fragrant cedar, earthy mushroom and grilled meat characters. The palate is powerful and opulent, and delivers waves of fabulous flavours and rich texture, finishing extremely long and velvety. Wonderfully maturing, this is lip-smackingly attractive. At its best: now to 2022".
