Wild Earth Stoaker Edition Pinot Noir 2019

The nose is fresh and floral with lively red fruit and spice with a hint of nuttiness. The palate is elegant with silky, fine tannin and a long, warm finish. There is power beneath the silkiness and a dark fruit character that both add intrigue. Seamless and harmonious with a playful edge, this wine is drinking well at release and will continue to develop for 7+ years.

This Pinot Noir came from established vineyards in Central Otago with vines ranging from 5 to 22 years old. The fruit was hand harvested at optimal ripeness with harvest dates ranging from late March to late-April. Thirteen ferments went into the blend ranging from 0-50% whole bunches per fermenter with the resulting blend having around 20% whole clusters which aids the tannin structure and aromatics of the wine. The total time on skins ranging from 3 to 4 weeks. The wine was aged in fine grain French Oak: 12% new, 40% 1 year old and the remainder in 2-5 year old barriques for approximately 12 months. The winemaking intention was to craft an exciting and highly drinkable wine from a blend of special sites that come together in harmony.
