Wild Earth Pinot Noir Rosé 2024

$32.00

Our 2024 Pinot Noir Rosé has a beautiful pale pink hue that hints at the great energy and fresh aromas that will unfold in the glass. Intensely fragrant, the floral notes and bright red fruit followed by a crisp finish sing beautifully of Central Otago Rosé. Enticing aromas of strawberry, tart cherry, cranberry and red apple are carried long on the palate by the fresh acidity.  This vintage also has note-worthy concentration. This dry-style Rosé has amazing fruit purity that is perfectly balanced by zesty acidity making it a wonderful wine on its own and fantastic for summer BBQs and outdoor dining. With each new vintage, our goal is to craft a complex Rosé that is balanced, delicious, and a true reflection of the season.

Vintage notes:
The 2023-2024 growing season was hot and dry in January/February followed by an exceptionally cool March which compacted picking across the region. We chose the slightly later ripening Clone 5 to use as the base of our Rose this season, resulting in a crisp, dry-style wine with a gorgeous pale pink colour. This is our fourth vintage of making Rosé from this vineyard and we love both the consistency and subtle differences of each season.

Wine making notes:
The Pinot Noir for the 2024 Wild Earth Pinot Noir Rosé was picked early in the season on the 2nd of April using two clones, predominately Clone 5 for texture and fruit purity with 10% of 777 for florals and freshness. This established vineyard in Pisa is a favourite of ours for growing Pinot Noir that creates Rosé that is dry, fresh and delicious, The hand-harvested grapes were left on skins for a day before pressing which helped extract the beautiful light pink colour. The cool fermentation was predominately in a stainless steel tank with around 10% in neutral oak.

No fining products are used to make this wine. This wine is vegan.

Sam Kim, Wine Orbit: 95 points, 5 stars
“Charming and finely scented, the bouquet shows sweet strawberry, nectarine, lemon peel, and white floral aromas, followed by an elegantly weighted palate displaying bright fruit flavours with fine texture and beautifully pitched acidity, making it mouth-watering and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2027”

Michael Cooper: 5 stars
“Bright pink, with fresh, inviting scents, the 2024 vintage (*****) is a single-vineyard wine, hand-harvested at Pisa, in the Cromwell Basin.  Finely crafted, it is full-bodied and fleshy, with vibrant peach, strawberry and watermelon flavours, showing excellent delicacy, depth and harmony, and a dry, smooth finish.  Already delicious, it offers top drinking through 2025”.

Cameron Douglas MS: 93 points, excellent
“Hues of pink and cherry lead to a bouquet of fresh raspberry and black currant flesh. A layer of roses and crumbled stone add a layer of complexity. Very bright and fresh with an instant power surge of red berry fruit flavours framed by acidity and a fine mineral layer. Fruit tannins and spice, gently warming alcohol and a core of red fruit flavours complete this wine. Well made with best drinking from day of purchase through end of summer 2027”.

Joelle Thomson: 18/20 points
“This new dry rosé from Wild Earth Wines in Central Otago is fresh off the bottling line and approachably lush and appealing to drink right now with vibrant flavours of fresh strawberries, rose petal and a zesty crisp finish. There’s even a hint of Turkish delight in the aromatic spectrum, which is supported beautifully with zingy acidity that adds structure and length to every lingering sip.”

Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Wine Reviews: 5 stars, 18.5/20, 93 points
“Bright, even, pale blush pink. This has a lifted bouquet with aromas of bright floral, strawberry and cherry. Medium-bodied, aromas of strawberry and cherry melded with intense floral. The wine is elegantly fragrant and packed with ripe fruit, unfolding a rich, dry finish. Serve as an aperitif or match with charcuterie over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from Pisa, predominantly clone 5 with 10% clone 777, handpicked, left on skins for a day before pressing, cool-fermented in stainless steel tank and around 10% in neutral oak. 14% alc, 3 g/l RS. Began friendly. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts)
